In the optimistic post-war years, Switzerland launched major tourism campaigns to attract international travelers to its winter resorts. This original "Berner Oberland – Schweiz" poster, created around 1958 by Swiss graphic designer Edi Hauri (1911–1988), is a perfect example of that effort.

The poster features a charming, stylized child skier — a rare motif in travel posters of the time — symbolizing joy, innocence, and the family-friendly appeal of the Berner Oberland, a legendary alpine region in the Bernese Alps. Hauri’s signature design style shines through: clean lines, vivid colors, minimalist shapes, and modern Swiss typography.

This artwork was commissioned to promote Switzerland not just as a winter sports destination, but also as a safe, cheerful, and organized country — a key part of its national tourist identity building in the 20th century.

Today, this rare original print is coveted for both its decorative power and its value as a historical artifact of mid-century travel advertising.
