Poster reissued in 1950 and designed by Albert Dubout for the 1931 film Marius, directed by Alexander Korda and based on the play of the same name by Marcel Pagnol (1929).

‘Marius’ (1931) is the first part of Marcel Pagnol's Marseille trilogy of plays, followed by “Fanny” (1932) and ‘César’ (1936). This 1950 poster was created by the prolific French illustrator Albert Dubout (1905-1976). It shows Marius trying to cheat to help his accomplice Escartefigue, exclaiming mischievously: ‘You're breaking my heart!’ His characteristic style, full of humour and poetry, is clearly recognisable. This is one of his most popular and sought-after posters.
