This original tourism poster of the Compagnie Générale Transatlantique French Line designed in 1950 by Edouard Collin promotes the West Indies Line.

On this colourful poster, a cheerful crowd is stirring on the beach: men, women and children in colourful traditional West Indian clothing are exchanging goods, chatting, dancing, diving and sailing in boats. Tall palm trees in bloom frame the scene and open onto the monumental Colombian steamer that splits the sea under a monochrome yellow sky, its passengers watching their arrival from the crowded railing.

The Caribbean Archipelago stretches more than 4,000 kilometres from the Gulf of Mexico to off the coast of Venezuela, between the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean.
