In 1971, the Swiss artist Celestino Piatti was commissioned to design the poster announcing the "battle of the century", The Fight. Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier competed at Madison Square Garden in Harlem at the World Heavyweight Boxing Championship on March 8 of the same year. It was Ali's first professional defeat.

The drawing, inspired by the neo-expressionist style of the American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, depicts a boxing glove with a face holding a globe in its mouth.

Graphic artist, painter and designer, Piatti's works include posters and books, stamps, lithographs, engravings, stained glass, murals and other paintings, ceramics and sculptures. Thirty of his 500 posters were awarded the prize "Best Swiss Poster of the Year".
