Original 1969 French poster of the film Bullittdirected by Peter Yates with Steve McQueen, Robert Vaughn and Jacqueline Bisset, by Landi.

Bullitt is an American detective film directed by Peter Yates in 1968, starring Steve McQueen (as the anti-hero Frank Bullitt), Robert Vaughn and Jacqueline Bisset. The screenplay, written by Alan R. Trustman and Harry Kleiner, is adapted from Mute Witness, a novel by Robert L. Pike. The jazz-inspired soundtrack is by composer Lalo Schifrin.

For this original poster dominated by the silhouette of Steve McQueen, artist Michel Landi stages the cult car chase in the streets of San Francisco with the 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback V8 GT 390 lent by the Ford Motor Company to Warner Bros. It's the most famous scene in this thriller, which revolutionized Hollywood standards. It also earned Frank P. Keller the Oscar for Best Editing. Numerous tributes to this monument of American cinema exist: we can for example mention The Marginal and The Break with Jean-Paul Belmondo, French Connectionor more recently the film Drive.
