From Russia with Love is a British film directed by Terence Young, released in 1963. It is the second feature film around the James Bond character created by Ian Fleming. Its French poster is signed by the illustrator Boris Grinsson.

Boris Grinsson was, from the 1930s to the 1970s, one of the most prolific creators in the world of cinema posters. After making his debut in Germany, he emigrated to Paris where he learned the technique of lithography, which was not yet used for cinema posters in Germany.

Curve, colour, chiaroscuro, proportions and marriage of characters, he masters the art of the glamour touch that characterized French poster art at the turn of the 1940s and 1950s. After the war, his style evolved towards a simpler and more stripped-down graphic design. He was no longer content to represent the actors in realistic situations: he introduced a symbolic dimension to his images through geometric lines, colour ranges, improbable lighting or silhouette trimming.

Very good portraitist, he works like many from photos. In 1959, Grinsson signed the poster of the Four hundred strokes by François Truffaut: This is a very good example of one of his posters based on a set photograph. We also owe him the most beautiful portraits of the greatest stars of the 7th Art: Rita Hayworth, Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot..

For United Artists, he designed the posters for James Bond v. Dr. No and From Russia with Love the best films in the series for purists, and probably the most sought-after posters.
