Original French poster of the American horror movie The night of all mysteries (House on Haunted Hill) directed by de William Castle in 1959 and drawn by Roger Soubie.
The Night of All Mysteries (House on Haunted Hill) is an American horror film directed by William Castle, released in 1959. It has the peculiarity of having been shot in a modern house on the outskirts of Los Angeles, designed by the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Known as Ennis House it was later used for the shooting of other films, including scenes from Blade Runner.
The original poster was designed by Frenchman Roger Soubie. One of the most emblematic artists of his generation, he is both a landscape painter and an outstanding portrait painter, considered by specialists as "a poster artist who puts his talent at the service of the film".
After starting to make posters for transport companies (PLM, Réseau de l'Est, Compagnie du Midi...) and then illustrating magazine covers, his qualities as a director of action in pictures and an inspired colourist made him the most sought-after poster designer for the American Majors from the 1930s onwards.
