This rare original poster, printed around 1950 in Vienna by Bruder Rosenbaum, is part of a postwar visual campaign commissioned by the Austrian Federal Government to revive winter tourism. It belongs to the golden age of European alpine promotional design and captures the spirit of 1950s optimism through both form and content.

The joyful scene features two brightly dressed female skiers leaning in to kiss a snowman with a carrot nose and striped cap, standing proudly before the snowy Alps. The composition evokes a cheerful, nostalgic vision of winter, filled with innocence and playful charm.

The artwork blends mid-century commercial realism with the softness of hand-rendered lithographic color. The bright costumes and pastel shadows reflect the postwar visual codes: warm, inviting, and family-oriented. The scene suggests not only leisure, but a return to peace and celebration after the turmoil of World War II.

The image is unsigned — typical for state-sponsored campaigns of the time — but stands out by its artistic quality and emotional impact, placing it among the most emblematic Austrian ski posters of the mid-20th century.
