Located on the French-Italian border, Mont Blanc is the highest point of the Alps. With an altitude of 4,809 metres, it is the highest peak in Western Europe. It is on its north face that lies the Mer de Glace, the second largest glacier in the Alps. A major tourist attraction in the region, it can be reached by the Montenvers railway.

To carry out its numerous advertising campaigns to promote tourism in France and the development of its rail network, the Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée company regularly makes Hugo d'Alesi. Specialising in tourist posters, the latter perfectly illustrates the picturesque landscapes of the French regions. Here we find one of his classic compositions: walkers admire a superb view characteristic of the destination in question.
