Having become the "lake front" of Lausanne, Ouchy is a quartier of the city and a former Swiss municipality. Its promenade and shaded quays make it a very famous place for walking and relaxing in the region, offering a magnificent view of Lake Geneva and the Chablais mountains. You can discover three sumptuous gardens of Lausanne which follow one another along the quays, the fake ruin of the Haldimand tower, the castle of Ouchy, as well as the landing stage and the port of Ouchy which constitute the liveliest sailing base on Lake Geneva. It is therefore this stylised décor that can be guessed on the poster designed by René Martin Martin in 1930 to promote tourism in Lausanne.
Although they are not its emblem, swans are nevertheless part of the identity of the shores of Lake Geneva where they live all year round. It is not surprising that one of these majestic, immaculate birds occupies the centre of this Art Deco-style poster.
