The Maeght Gallery, inaugurated with Henri Matisse's exhibition in December 1945 in Paris, quickly became the meeting place for artists and poets. In 1946, Bonnard, Braque, Matisse, Marchand, Rouault, Baya exhibit for the first time at the gallery.

André Breton and Marcel Duchamp organized a surrealist exhibition there, followed by Mirò, Calder, Giacometti, Léger and Steinberg. This gallery, a veritable Parisian institution, hosted an exhibition dedicated to Marc Chagall in 1954. The very beautiful and very sober poster announcing it features the work The Champs-Elysées from the same year.

The two friends Mourlot and Sorlier are in charge of the reproduction, they are the official printers and lithographers of the Belarusian artist.
