Directed by Stanley Kubrick with Keir Dullea and Gary Lockwood, its scenario is inspired by Arthur C. Clarke's short stories. The film receives theOscar for Best Special Effects in 1969.
Who better to design the poster than Robert T. McCall, official NASA painter? For more than thirty-five years, he created numerous mission patches, images and murals for the American space agency. His six murals on the history of the conquest of space are on display at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington.
Passionate about space exploration, McCall is the author of futuristic, highly accurate illustrations for magazines Saturday Evening Post, LIFE and Popular Science.
