Original poster of the film Mean Streets directed by Martin Scorsese in 1973, with Robert De Niro and Harvey Keitel.

The film, which the director considers autobiographical, follows the daily lives of four young aspiring mafia bosses from the Little Italy neighbourhood in the early 1970s, and marks the first of ten collaborations between Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro. De Niro truly reveals himself in Mean Streets before turning in the second part of the Sponsor under Coppola the following year. It was a great success during the Directors' Fortnight at the 1974 Cannes Film Festival, and it also gave Scorsese international fame, confirmed three years later with Taxi Driver.

The original American poster one sheet from Mean streets is renowned for its efficient graphics. A still smoking revolver is pointing upwards, and fits into the whole like a building in the skyline from New York City. All the elements that make up the city's visual identity are also included: water tank, windows, fire escapes... The adjectives that can be read in the film review also apply to the original poster: exquisite, savage, brilliant.
