Rare original poster of The Lady of Shanghai (The Lady from Shanghai), an American thriller by Orson Welles, released in 1947 with Rita Hayworth and Everett Sloane.

Rita Hayworth was never more beautiful than in The Lady of Shanghai. Columbia star after his legendary performance in the movie Gilda...his long red hair has become a Hollywood symbol. For this film, Orson Welles imposes a short blonde haircut that is perceived by critics as a revenge on the woman he was divorcing.

Classic film noir, The Lady of Shanghai causes Welles to be kicked out of Hollywood. Sometimes seen as a symbol of a settling of scores between the director and his wife, the bitterness of the author of Macbeth and The Thirst for Evil to Hollywood and its ruthless system. Welles probes with glibness and insolence the ambivalence of the human soul.
