The linenbacking technique

THE LINENBACKING OF YOUR POSTERS WITH WWW.POSTERISSIM.COM

☞ The linenbacking technique

The posters are first dry dusted with powder and a brush. Then they are washed with clear water in large basins to refresh the colors and remove tension from the paper. The still wet poster is applied to a linen or cotton cloth (Canvas) using a starch solution. A sheet of acid-free paper (Canson) is placed between the two. The poster is thus stored at a neutral pH and without acidity to stabilize its colors and protect it against oxidation (yellowing of the paper). A dust-free drying during 1 to 2 weeks is then required depending on the size and type of paper.

A margin of 3 to 5 cm is kept to protect the perimeter of the poster. Our linenbackings are all made with neutral materials that stabilize the acidity of the poster. We use noble techniques which are completely reversible. Without the application of this technique, the poster, even if it does not damage itself, may curl within its frame, detrimental to its artistic qualities and impairing its appreciation.

☞ Why linenbacked a poster?

A vintager poster is originally rolled up, folded or kept flat. It must be preserved as well as possible over time and be easily framed.

www.posterissim.com provides each poster with a long, delicate and expensive conservation treatment of the paper known as "linenbacking". It protects the poster from possible damage and gives the paper a structure that gives it optimal hold in its frame.

www.posterissim.com calls on the best specialists in this particular technique, whose expertise and experience are recognized by amateurs and collectors around the world.

For all these reasons, www.posterissim.com sells, unless otherwise indicated, only linenbacked posters.

At www.posterissim.com, you thus acquire a beautiful collector's item that will follow you over time and that you will be proud to exhibit.
