Created in 1910 for the prestigious Touring-Club de France, this poster reflects the golden age of colonial tourism in North Africa. At the dawn of modern transport (rail, steamboat, automobile), the TCF spearheaded campaigns promoting exotic destinations to French and European travelers, including Algeria and Tunisia.

Founded in 1890, the Touring-Club de France (TCF) was one of the most influential travel organizations of the 20th century. Initially focused on cycling and motoring, it soon became a major promoter of tourism through maps, guidebooks, and beautifully illustrated posters like this one.

The Algero-Tunisian Committee aimed to transform these colonial territories into accessible, romanticized lands of adventure and heritage.

This piece is thus not just advertising – it’s a historical artefact, a rare fusion of graphic art and colonial-era travel propaganda, typical of the Belle Époque.
