Michelin's mascot Bibendum was born in April 1894, under the pencil of cartoonist Marius Rossillon (alias O'Galop). Otherwise known as the "Michelin Man", he was the star of French tire manufacturer advertisements from the very beginning and is one of the oldest brand images in the world.

Over the years, the mascot has of course evolved, particularly with the disappearance of the cigar that accompanied it until the early 1930s and which was abandoned to better suit Michelin's sporting ambitions. This original poster designed by Roowy shows the Michelin Man on his bike, as he did for many years. It is part of a series where it is accompanied by one of the brand's first slogans, "The best, the cheapest", as well as the name of the tire dealer for whom the poster is intended.
