Raleigh Cycles is a British bicycle manufacturer founded in 1887 in Nottingham, at the instigation of Sir Frank Bowden. This is one of the oldest bicycle brands in the world.

Female figures are often found at the centre of Raleigh Cycles' advertising posters. They represent modern, fashionable women, symbols of a brand that moves with the times.

In this poster designed by Tom Browne, a woman poses proudly lifting her Raleigh bike over her shoulder. The way she is dressed is typical of the Belle Epoque, especially the style of dress adopted between the 1900s and 1910s. Indeed, the hats are large and highly decorated and the silhouettes pay tribute to the sinuous lines of the Art Nouveau movement.
