Original poster from 1955 The Laughing Cow, a major brand in France from the original drawing by Benjamin Rabier

The Laughing Cow was born in 1865 in the Jura. Created by Léon Bel under the name of "Modern Cheese", it is known throughout the world for its round box illustrated with a cow wearing earrings made from boxes of Laughing Cow.

In 1921, the cheese got its name and its mythical logo from the First World War: Bel's "Fresh Meat Supply" trucks were painted with a hilarious cow nicknamed Wachkyrie drawn by Benjamin Rabier. It was at this time that the designer affixed earrings to the famous Droste effect earrings, and the cow turned red under the impetus of the printer Vercasson.
